Description: This summer assignment was to create your own version of a masterpiece or well-known piece, and I chose one of Aphonse Mucha’s cigarette advertisements from the Art Nouveau time period. I had never really worked with the style, so it was lots of fun to experiment a little bit (especially with the hair). The next time I try the style again, I’ll have to try watercolors for a more gentle feel. I think I might also go back and add some lighter values to the background to make it more like the texture of her dress.
