Annie's SongCompleted Date: November 2013

Medium: watercolor

Description: The assignment for this piece was to choose a song as the theme for a piece of art and work with the ideas behind the lyrics and musical qualities. I thought about some songs for a while, but the song that kept popping back into my mind again and again was John Denver’s “Annie’s Song.” I love John Denver and have heard the song a million times, and I can’t get over how beautiful the lyrics are. Well, I played around with some of the similes and the images, and went along with how it turned out. It’s always so hard to create an image that pops into your head without a straightforward reference, but overall, I’m happy with the way this one ended up. It took me forever because it’s watercolor on a huge sheet of paper, so now I know to work a little smaller the next time I do another watercolor piece.
