Watercolor Portrait of Nana

Completed Date: 10/14/13

Medium: watercolor

Description: This painting was inspired by my grandmother. I always have so many wonderful experiences with her, and she means so much to me. I decided to paint a portrait using a loose style of watercolor to experiment with the effects the water can bring. Also, I chose shades of blues and greens because I felt like they captured parts of her sweet, thoughtful, eloquent, graceful, composed, and wise qualities. All in all, I think painting to express what is most special to us is definitely what makes art so meaningful and powerful a communication tool.
