Foreshortened DancerCompleted Date: 11/28/12

Medium: acrylic

Description: Here, my purpose was to study a foreshortened figure and perspective using acrylic paint. Since I had trouble finding a reference, I decided to take a few photographs of some of my friends at the studio. (What better subject than a dancer is there to study figures!) A challenge for me with this project was choosing a color scheme, but I experimented a little (especially with the background) and ended up liking the effect. I think next time I’ll focus a little more on creating a clear light source, though…

Love this, and I also enjoy hearing you describe your process – the face is very expressive!

Wow, thank you so much to all of you for the feedback! Right now, I’m finishing up my first official “concentration” piece, so I’ll post that soon. Really, I wish that I painted completely for the finished product and that I would continue painting even if my work was unaccepted (like Van Gogh and his work), but I think that a lot of the time, the support and encouragement is really what keeps me going. So, thank you so much!
