Sketch of a Dancer

November 15, 2012 by mamie

Completed Date: 11/11/12

Medium: watercolor

Description: For AP Art, one of the major components of the class is each artist’s collection of 10-12 paintings or drawings called a “concentration,” and all of the pieces work together to illustrate a certain theme using similar styles and mediums. Right now is the time that I’m trying to brainstorm for my concentration. (Coming up with a strong idea is always the hardest part.) So far, I’ve decided that I’m going to work with ballet and dance somehow, and this little sketch was an experiment to see if I would want to work with watercolors. I think I might pick a different medium in the end, but I’ll keep experimenting and sketching to decide what that medium and style will be. I’m excited for my concentration, though, especially because I’m hoping to take my own photographs for references! It’ll be an interesting journey.
