Skeleton Abstraction

Completed Date: 11/4/12

Medium: oil pastels

Description: Again with the skeleton! Yippee! This time, the focus was abstraction and bright, bright colors with the oil pastels. Right when I started, I had a great time with the skeleton, but then struggled a little with the background. (I wanted texture, but I think my design turned out a little too busy; it draws away from the main focus.) Next time I’ll work on leading the viewer’s eye to the focal point of the drawing a little more. Overall, I was happy to be working in bright vivacious colors with one of my favorite mediums!

The skeleton is a magnificent structure. I really like this one. I’m a fan of some of Damien Hurst’s work…

Thanks! I looked him up and really liked his work. It’s definitely the kind of art that really makes you think in a different way, which I love! The skulls were really cool, and so were the displays of animals and the creative statues.

I love this! I love your choice to draw a traditionally “dark” subject such as a skeleton in bright colours. Also, I know skeletons are not easy to draw, so bravo on your technical skills. This is really cool. 🙂

  4. Awesome work! Keep it up 🙂
