Abstraction of Bell Peppers

October 3, 2012 by mamie

Completed Date: 9/16/12

Medium: mixed media (acrylic paint and newspaper)

Description: In AP Art, after observing some fresh bell peppers cut in half right in front of us, our assignment was to abstract them somehow. Hearing the word “abstraction” always freaks me out a little, at first. However, with this piece, I took it step by step and waited to see where the painting would take me. In the end, I simplified some of the peppers’ qualities, like color, shape, texture, and value, and the whole project ended up being a learning experience.
