Skeletons in Pen & Ink

Completed Date: 12/9/11

Medium: pen and ink

Description: With the genius Leonardo da Vinci for inspiration, my art class last year sketched various parts of the skeleton hanging in the room and formed some sort of interesting composition. We modeled our drawings after da Vinci’s anatomy sketches and notes that he put in his journals, and we tried to incorporate designs, patterns, and details, too. In the moments after our class’s critique, I remember getting really frustrated with my boring piece, and so I pulled out my ink and paintbrush and painted that weird blob in the background. Ugh…definitely a mistake. I should have taken more time to come up with some sort of design that would actually work. Oh well, lesson learned. Anyway, maybe I’ll go back to it one day when I have nothing to do and turn it into something else. Who knows???
