Contour Drawing of Shoes

August 11, 2012 by mamie

Completed Date: 1/21/11

Medium: permanent marker

Description: In this piece, I focused on looking at a real pair of shoes in front of me and transferring the shapes and designs to the page using contour lines (not sketchy lines). I modeled my piece after some of Matisse’s contour drawings. To have been a real contour drawing, I should’ve gone straight from a blank page to using marker, but since this was for school (graded), I cheated and drew the shoes in pencil first. (We all did.) 🙂
