Vibrant Garden Landscape with Lake

Completed Date: 2010

Medium: soft pastels

Description: This drawing shows my representation of a springtime landscape that I liked with a touch of impressionism. Instead of using browns, greys, and natural shades, I tried to incorporate as many colors as I could to make the setting more exciting. One of the parts I like most in my piece is that the bright flowers in the foreground have a sort of energetic feel, while the lake behind them contrasts this with a more peaceful feel. After entering my drawing in the Kiwanis Art Show in our area, it won 3rd place and $90 for me! (Who knew that doing something you love can actually bring in some money?) 🙂
